Bathing Establishment List As far back as the 18th century,
Varazze was visited by aristocratic Genoese
families who had built their villas in the city.
Subsequently, people from neighbouring
Piedmont started appearing on the beach and,
among these, a famous visitor was the
Prince Tommaso of the house of Savoy.
The first bathing establishment
sprang up in 1887 and was named after
Queen Margherita.
The period that goes from the first to the second world war is considered the golden period for the development of the bathing activity which, in a very short time, replaced the shipbuilding industry.
Right after the war, the traditional clientele was joined by people from Longobardy who appointed Varazze as their resort for the warm and peaceful summer days. Leaving for a holiday by the sea became a rite for the rich and famous.
The average stay in our city was for a whole month, often the time was spent mainly on the beach and in contact with nature which was real and uncontaminated. The excellent facilities, the well throught out accommodations and the kindness of the assigned staff conferred on Varazze a popularity which soon crossed the national borders and made Varazze famous and appreciated even abroad.
Presently, this tradition continue to provide hospitality, service and courtesy which further increase a well deserved fame in the area of tourism.
